I see fitness as a three legged cart or a wheelbarrow. Here, all the legs or wheels have their own important role to play. Breaking off one leg or if it becomes lopsided the whole cart or wheelbarrow will go kaput.
Cardio, Strength training and Flexibility training are those three legs of this fitness cart.
If you’ll just do cardio workout, you’ll look skinny yes, but you won’t build up muscles and the muscles that you already had will also breakdown.
If you’ll just do strength training then you’ll end up looking like a hulk.
If you’ll work only on flexibility, then thats not gonna give you much results on weight loss and strength.
Hence all three are important cogs of the fitness wheel and its crucial to incorporate all three in your fitness regime.
In my two cents’ worth,
Cardio workout, body weight or resistence training and yoga for stretching n flexibility i.e to give your body best range of movement, all of them should go hand in hand.
Give yourself just one hour daily for 5 days a week and add all these ingredients in your workout.
It will not only change your body’s composition but will also make you feel happier younger and stronger because i believe that muscles are one of the age reversing thingy in our body and workouts release endorphins which boosts our happiness as well..
But it has a catch, this titter tatter of your fitness regime needs another component to balance it out and thats a “healthy diet”. Eating right and in moderation plays a major role here.
All the hardwork will go down the drain if you ain’t eating right.
Your diet should have all the minerals, vitamins, nutrients, refined carbs, lean protein and some fats as well to keep you healthy inside and water to keep you well Hyderated.
Last but not the least, keep your mind at peace, do not rush up with your fitness goals instead get aware of your body’s capabilities and take baby steps to improve it further.
Stressing over results or no results will just stop showing the required results as stress boosts weight gain at times.
Like checking the weighing scale again and again everyday would just put you under unnecessary stress.
in that case its better to throw away that weighing scale machine.
No, i am pretty serious guys, just throw it off.
Just don’t climb on it. If at all you really wanna check your weight then do it once in a two to three weeks time.
Even better way would be a pair of jeans.
Try the same pair of jeans on you; once every month end to gauge your real progress, you can also click a selfie every month end and compare or check your body’s composition by calculating fat percentage as well.
Healthy body fat percentage for average men should be 18-24% and for average women it should be 25-31% anything above this range will take you in the obese category.
